05/27/08 - Marriage and Canada...
Hey everyone, I hope all is well! First of all, it's exciting to say that Adam Wann, our bass player, just got married last week! The wedding and reception were fun, and I know Adam and Katie are enjoying getting used to married life! Maybe we can post a picture from the wedding soon! Secondly, we just got back from Canada, where we played a thing called YC, and it was awesome! Everyone was so friendly, and the shows were a blast! We left the venue twice to get some Bubble Tea at this really cool place downtown, which was fun, and we also learned what a "Dooney" and a "Tooney" are... you'll figure it out. Thanks to everyone who chilled with us up there. Hopefully we can make it back soon! Peace and Love - Joshua P.S. - (This is an edit)... It appears that I have made a grand error. It is a Looney... I love you Canada.

05/12/08 - Jesus. (Oh, no...He said it.)
Do you ever feel like sometimes you get it, and then, other times, you are completely lost? I mean, there are those moments in life when everything is going exactly as we would want it to go, and then there are other instances when something so simple and biting can come along and throw us right on our face. I was just reading the words of Jesus, a section in the Bible most refer to as the sermon on the Mount... I guess because he was up on a mountain preaching a sermon? Nevertheless, there are some really tricky ideas tangled up in His words. For example, He likens being angry to murdering someone. He also says that if someone looks at a woman lustfully it's the same as committing adultery. He says that it's not a good idea to swear to someone, but simply say yes or no to them. He says if a man hits you in your face, turn so he can hit punch you in the other cheek as well. He even says love the people that hate you. He says to never ever judge people because you will be judged the same. This is only fraction of what is there too... When I was reading this, I realized that I have probably broken every one of these at some point in my life. I am sure that I have judged someone this week. I know I have gotten angry with someone too. People may say that Jesus didn't say these things to show us we can't ever live up to them... But, I think that is exactly why He said them. It hit me that these things are good things to strive for and all, but a part of why he said all of these things was, in fact, to show us that we, in fact, can't measure up. Even more than that, it shows us how much we need Him in our lives. Reading on in the book of Matthew, we can see Jesus healing so many people of wretched diseases, and He forgives people of their filthiest sins. He puts back together that which was shattered to pieces by humanities destructive ways. Just thought I would share... It doesn't matter what you have done. Jesus knew you wouldn't measure up, and that's why He gave us His life. Later - Joshua

05/01/08 - Credit Cards are the devil
There are some things in life that we cannot fully control. We want to control them, but we can't. Am I right? Amy and I bought some couches for our apartment last fall, and a month later, the credit company charged our account again for extra money that we never spent. So I called and complained in January, and the lady said, "We will take care of it". So I chilled. A month later, the next bill came, and the charge was still there. Rather ticked off, I called again and said, "I thought you guys were taking care of this". They said that there was a valid charge and they would send me an itemized list so I could see it, but it would take 31 days to arrive. Fair enough I guess. So I waited... Fast forward: Yesterday, which marked more than 31 days, I got a letter that simply said, "Thank you for your request. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide the requested document at this time". And that's pretty much it. That is what I have waited for all month long. Lessons learned: - First of all, don't use credit! The interest will kill you, and people on the other end of the phone have no idea what's going on with your account. - Secondly, don't get overly angry at things you can't control. As much as I would like to think otherwise, it doesn't help much. - Last, but not least, God loves you. I know it doesn't sound like that applies, but it does. Finances can be depressing... keep your head up and work hard! Sorry if this blog was an absolute waste of your time. On a better note, I am getting mixes of our new songs daily, and they sound sick. We can't wait to get them out there for everyone! Love - Joshua (NTL)
